Project description:

Results from on-station research indicate that the N benefit to milo following soybean is 70 (Clegg) to 80 lb/A.  This is considerably more than the more conservative estimate of 1 lb N /A benefit for every bushel of soybean, or 45 lb/A credit.  The objective of this research is to verify that a soybean N credit of 75 lb/A can be given to a following crop of milo.  On-farm trials of four replications are being conducted in SE NE where the treatments are:  0 N; the UNL recommendation giving 45 lb N credit for soybean;  the UNL recommendation giving 75 lb N credit for soybean; and the UNL recommendation giving no N credit for soybean.

Key results:

The results from 3 of 4 trials conducted in 2001 and 2002 verify 75 lb N /A credit.  The results of the fourth trial indicate that 45 lb N is a better estimate of the credit.
